An introduction.

This is a collection of images I have taken at the Nottingham Ice Racing Club training nights as part of a personal project. The club have very generously allowed me access to shoot during their one hour of ice time on a Tuesday evening.


About the images.

I have always found Speed Skating to be exciting and photogenic but the images I have seen didn't explore the sport other than to capture a racing moment. Of course these are great action shots but the challange for me was to come back with images that gave a fresh look at the sport and the people that take part.
I made some suggestions to the club who very kindly listened to all of my requests and were most accomodating, allowing me to shoot from some very unusual angles. I hope that I have been able to do justice to the grace, power, speed and effort these athletes put into their Tuesday night training session. I would like to thank Peter and Amanda Worth and all of the skaters for putting up with me whilst they trained.
